Toys R Us goes green.

Toys R Us certainly has a wide selection of baby toys and clothing but for those of us looking for healthier alternatives to plastic toys and formaldehyde laden clothing, Toys R Us doesn’t have much to offer. If you’re looking for organic and non-toxic products, you often have to resort to online shopping which can be costly when you factor in the additional shipping fees. Wouldn’t it be nice if your local big box store just carried all the right products so you wouldn’t have to shop online? Well, it seems that Toys R Us is starting to get on the eco-friendly bandwagon. One of the newest products is the new natural wood car and truck series. The product comes bearing the Forest Stewardship Council seal of certification and uses a unique wood-burning process for decorating the toys. The toys are made of natural wood, containing no harmful chemicals and it’s eco-friendly! The selection is small at the moment, but here’s hoping that they will expand this new all natural wood line. Presently, you can buy a racing car, a truck, a train and a fire engine.

In addition to Toys R Us’ own eco-friendly product line, they also carry a few organic cotton plush toys. The Organic Lovie Blanket in pink and blue is made of organically-grown cotton and is Azo free (no toxic dyes). This warm and fuzzy blanket from Piccolo Bambino is sure to be a cuddly companion to your little one.

AND…. Toys R Us is now carrying MiYim plush dolls!!! These organic cotton dolls made with mineral dyes are absolutely adorable. Each doll comes in it’s own signature gift box, made with recycled paper. They make wonderful gifts and are safe for newborns up to 24 months. MiYim’s Fairytale Baby Monkey Fred is now available at Toys R Us.
Interestingly, Toys R Us has now also come out with their own knock-off version of the MiYim dolls, which are almost equally as cute but are quite a bit cheaper.
